I'm Maria, MA Ed., ATCL Voice, PgCEi Education
Hi, I’m Maria the founder of MMM CIC— a singer, voice educator, and voice coach who knows exactly how it feels to doubt your own voice. Many adults tell me they’d love to sing but hold back — worried they’re not “good enough,” that it’s too late to start again, or that someone might judge the sound that’s theirs alone. Others carry old memories from school or stage that made them hide their voice.
I understand, because I’ve been there too. Born in the vibrant streets of Lisbon, I began my journey with humble beginnings and no musical background — just a deep love for song. That passion carried me through years of learning, from the Dubai Opera Festival Chorus to sharing a stage with Andrea Bocelli at Du Arena in Abu Dhabi. Along the way, I learned that the voice isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection, confidence, and self-expression.
My adult singing lessons in Southend-on-Sea are designed to be a safe, supportive space where you can rediscover your voice at your own pace. Together, we’ll nurture your vocal confidence, build healthy technique, and develop skills that will improve not just your singing, but your overall use of the voice — how you speak, breathe, and express yourself in everyday life.
If you’ve ever wished to sing freely again, to rebuild your confidence, or to finally give your voice the care it deserves — I’d love to welcome you. Let’s find your true sound together. The stage — and your voice — are waiting.

Singing is Joyful
Singing touches something deep within us — it uplifts, heals, and brings people closer together. When we sing, we connect with the present moment, build confidence, and express what words alone often can’t. It’s a joyful, mindful act that strengthens both our emotional and physical wellbeing.
Here in Southend-on-Sea, the energy of singing is alive — from local open mic nights and community singing circles to vibrant music festivals that fill the seafront with song. Whether you’re returning to singing or discovering your voice for the first time, there’s a place for you in this thriving, supportive scene.
At Maria Moon Music, we’re shaping a new, modern way to sing in the 21st century — blending creative freedom with evidence-based techniques for healthier, more expressive voices. Our approach nurtures confidence, improves vocal technique, and encourages singers of all backgrounds to explore their full potential.
Singing with us isn’t just about learning notes — it’s about rediscovering the joy of using your voice and being part of something vibrant, human, and uplifting. The journey starts here — at Maria Moon Music, where every voice has a place and every song begins with you.
We develop your singing in these key areas...
01
Vocal Technique
Master breath control, posture, and resonance to produce a healthy, powerful tone without strain. This core skill supports sustained phrasing and dynamic range.
03
Diction and Articulation
Refine clear pronunciation of lyrics, consonants, and vowels for audience comprehension. Essential for genres like musical theater, opera, or pop.
05
Performance Skills
Build stage presence, confidence, and audience connection via movement, eye contact, and improvisation. Practice simulates real gigs to reduce nerves.
02
Pitch and Ear Training
Develop perfect pitch accuracy and intonation through scales, intervals, and aural exercises. Strong ears enable harmonious singing in ensembles or solos.
04
Expression and Dynamics
Cultivate emotional delivery, vibrato control, and stylistic phrasing to convey feeling. This artistic layer turns technical skill into captivating performances.
06
Musicality & Interpretation
Integrate rhythm, theory, and genre knowledge to personalize songs authentically. This holistic area creates unique performers who stand out professionally.
Safeguarding Singers of All Ages
The physical and mental safety and wellbeing of our students, parents and staff is paramount.
At Early Years Music and our adult programs, we always prioritise what’s truly best for our singers—not fleeting trends or popularity. Voice health, care, and sustainable development remain our highest priority, guiding every decision we make or take.
We avoid individual singing lessons for very young children, as they risk adverse effects on confidence and self-esteem during crucial formative years. Group sessions or choirs provide the ideal nurturing environment, fostering joy, social connection, and natural vocal growth without pressure.
All Maria Moon Music staff and crew are qualified and experienced music teachers who hold a DBS enhanced certificate. In addition staff will also have a chaperone license, should we require to escort children to and from performances.
